amor cortés
  4

From the Occitan "Finamors" . ( Perfect Love ) This qualification is attributed to texts that present a conception of love that emerged in the Occitan courts from the eleventh century onwards; This literature is called courtly because it was originally addressed to court audiences, while suggesting the exquisite courtesy and refinement of courtly society. The ideal of courtly love is embodied in the "courtly" knight: brave warrior (like the epic hero), but he is fundamentally gallant: he fights not for God and for his lord, but for his lady, a love at once illicit and morally elevated, passionate and disciplined, humiliating and exalting, human and transcendent. Later on, mystical interpretations of this type of love will arise, substituting God for the lady.
